Earlville Community Unit School District #9 is pleased to announce the hiring of Jason Wiertel as the new Principal of Earlville Junior/Senior High School, beginning with the 2026–2027 school year. Mr. Wiertel brings more than twenty years of educational experience from Lisle Community Unit School District 202, serving at both the junior high and high school levels. Throughout his career, he has been a teacher, coach, student organization sponsor, and building leader, always prioritizing strong relationships to build a positive school culture. His leadership experience includes service on discipline and leadership committees, sponsoring Student Council, creating and advising a yearbook program for over a decade, and supporting athletics as both a state-championship-winning coach and an assistant athletic director. A native of Buffalo Grove, Mr. Wiertel earned his Bachelor of Arts from Carthage College in 2002. He later earned Master’s degrees in Administrative Leadership from Governors State University and Educational Technology from Concordia University Chicago. Mr. Wiertel and his wife, Sarah Wiertel, live in Oswego with their three daughters. Sarah is a first-grade teacher in Yorkville and previously taught in Lisle. Their daughter Alli, 17, is a student at Oswego High School and the 2025 IHSA 2A Individual State Champion in golf. Gracie, 14, attends Traughber Junior High and plays club volleyball for Sports Performance Volleyball. Lucy, 11, is a student at Southbury Elementary School and will compete in this year’s Drive, Chip, and Putt National Finals at Augusta National, held the day before the Masters Tournament. In a statement, Mr. Wiertel shared: “I am honored and excited to serve as Principal of Earlville Junior/Senior High School. I believe schools thrive when relationships are strong and every student feels known. I look forward to working alongside our staff, students, families, and community to continue building a culture of family in Earlville.” Mr. Wiertel will be replacing Jenette Fruit, who will assume the role of Superintendent of Earlville CUSD #9 at the start of the 2026–2027 school year.

Huge D2E shoutout to our Discovery FFA members! They were competing in the team challenge during the Middle School Mania at IVCC. They paced 4th, CONGRATULATIONS!

Huge D2E shoutout to Brooklyn Verda. There were approximately 120 students and Brooklyn was 5th overall!

Just a reminder that ski trip is Wednesday 2/25 bus leaves at 6:30am please arrive by 6:15. Lunch is included but resort is cashless.

The Band Pork Chop Dinner Winter Concert fundraiser is 2/26 from 5:30 to 7:00pm. The 5th Grade, Junior High, and High School Bands will be performing. We will have some tickets available at the door for the dinner catered by 5-B’s, but if you would like to preorder a ticket ahead of time you buy a ticket from an Earlville Band student or at the Earlville Main Office. Tickets are $20 and checks can be made out to the Earlville Band Boosters. Thank you for your support!

Huge D2E shoutout to everyone that has donated to the buddy bench for Moe Ayala. We will work with her family to design the right bench, and we will post pictures once it is in place. Attached are pictures of halftime of the varsity game. Gary and their grandchildren came to the court to each take a shot. Two things you could always guarantee when Moe's name was mentioned is family and smiling. The fans were cheering and the family was smiling ❤️🤍 Thank you Moe!

Join us as we have a fundraising night in honor of Moe Ayala! Moe was a dedicated employee who recently passed. We are accepting donations to purchase a “buddy bench” in her honor. Moe consistently spent time with students and made them smile. This bench will be placed on school grounds.
