Thank you LaSalle County Retired Teachers for the grant! Mrs. Albers wrote… The grant will be used to create and promote a culture of readers in our Jr. High. I want to help our students learn to love reading. I will be purchasing books from many genres and across our students' reading levels. To kick off our literacy incentive, the ELA teachers will be hosting a book tasting. With the help of Mrs. Harp, we will transform the D2E center into a "cafe" where students will be "tasting" (previewing) books and rating each book. Actual snacks will also be provided after the tasting. We will use students' ratings to put them into groups to read and discuss books with their peers in our classroom each week.
